Latur festival, the cultural extravaganza is scheduled  for Feb 10,11,12th 2012. The dates are supposed to remain the same every year. Introducing: Sachin Danai – An actor, a model and upcoming star from Latur – He has worked recently in three commercials out of which the Mountain Dew Cold drinks advt with Salman Khan being very popular. Sachin Danai, who has a theatre experience of 2 years with the “Parichay Theatre Group, Andheri, Mumbai”, is a natural actor who doesn’t have to put lot of effort into acting and for whom acting comes naturally. In Marathi he has played the role of “Sahdeva” in the popular serial on Zee Marathi Channel named “Mrutyunjay”. Apart from these he has actied in several drama’s like “Natak Ka Chakkar” and “Chandi Ka Chamcha”.

As an upcoming star, we can hope to see him in several new projects including commercials and mainstream films. Thus Latur can be proud of another actor after the success of Ritesh Deshmukh and may be someday Laturkars will have the luck to see both of them work together in a film.

Marathwada Neta – Marathi daily got a facebook fan page with an updated wall page recently. The Marathwada Neta Facebook fan page is located at http://facebook.com/MNeta . Once the facebook user likes the page, regular updates are sent to wall page of facebook users who have liked the page.  The Marathi newspaper was earlier in news for being the first internet daily with an E-paper edition in Marathwada.

This year as far as the rains are concerned, Maharashtra State on the whole is lucky is to get around 116% rainfall so far and one more month  is left for the monsoons. Farmers and happy all over the state. Water reservoir’s like Dams and lakes are at the maximum capacity all over the state.

However, in these happy times what the Govt should not ignore is the concept of RIS or Reservoir Induced Seismicity ( In simple terms Earthquake’s caused by large water bodies like Dams).  Maharashtra has some big Dams like the Koyna, Ujani, Jayakwadi and many others. Is the Govt doing any research into the possibilities of any such theories going real? And is the Disaster Management of the State ready to deal with any situations?

Recently, the Marathwada Neta , the marathi newspaper website got a new look. To my knowledge, Marathwada Neta was the first to bring an Internet edition of the Marathi newspaper in the Latur region. Other newspapers in the region later followed this.

About the new look of the website, the new user interface is great. Still I feel there is a lot of scope for improvement, one thing I can suggest with my web designing knowledge is : The blue font on the green for Top menu and the Slideshow headlines looks a bit odd (Either the font should not be made bold or the colour of the font should be changed or the green background. Everything else seems to be fine with the website and its great to know that Internet is been taken seriously by newspapers agencies.
